20/20
20/20 is the spirit of our time, a collective
consciousness that is exploding throughout our creative culture. It is an
ongoing showcase of Singapore's designers across different media and disciplines
that captures this emerging culture. The creators share the newest expressions
of their influences, inspirations and vision of an ever-evolving creative
landscape.
It is an ongoing documentation of Singaporean creativity. It features the
best design works done locally or by Singaporeans around the world. More importantly,
it demonstrates how Singaporean creativity has touched the lives of many people
around the world.
The first show started in 2004 at the IdN My Favorite Conference in Singapore.
The concept for the show was based on the perfect design vision for Singapore
(hence 20/20). The main component of that exhibition was an industrial conveyor
belt that transported 2,020 20cm x 20 cm boxes in a 20 metre x 20 metre space.
The boxes were metaphors that showcased the 20 creators as the building blocks
of Singapore's design industry and community. 2,020 books were also printed
to showcase and present the work of these 20 creators.
Presented by DesignSingapore Council.
