Black Design

Black was formed in 2004 by award winning creative team, Patrick Gan and Jackson Tan. With more than 10 years experience in marketing communications, this duo specializes in branding, design and typography. Past projects range from mass media (television, radio, press, print, electronic media) to more unexpected mediums such as design exhibitions, publications, mobile content and fashion apparel.

Their work has won recognition in many international creative arenas such as the British D&AD, American Center of Design 100 Show, Promax Asia, Media Design Awards and The One Show. The award from the American Center of Design was most noteworthy it was the only selection from Asia. Besides winning awards Black have judged for creative competitions, given talks, critiques and lectures in international design conferences and events around the world.

In April 2005, Black was commissioned by DesignSingapore (MICA) to conceptualise, curate and design the highly successful landmark exhibition called 20/20, a showcase of Singapore’s finest creative talents that charts the paradigm shift that has occurred within Singapore’s creative landscape. Black has also worked on other national branding and content development projects for government bodies such as MICA and the Economic Development Board. These include the Made in Singapore Gallery and the Second Nature Exhibition at Changi Airport.
