Architecture
WOHA is a design practice based in Singapore.
Formed in 1994 by Singaporean, Wong Mun Summ and Australian, Richard Hassell,
the practice has grown to a staff of 60 from diverse backgrounds. WOHA’s focus
is integrated design for the built environment, encompassing master planning,
architectural, landscape, interior and lighting and furniture design. Rather
than developing a house style, WOHA focuses on the architectural potentials
within each project, and develops a formal language around these.
WOHA is involved in projects around the Asia Pacific region, with current
work in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Cambodia.
Rather than specialising in projects by type, projects are accepted for their
design potential and points of interest, and include commercial, residential,
hospitality, transport, infrastructure, exhibition, institutional, religious,
mixed-use and interior projects.
WOHA’s works have been featured in the Phaidon Contemporary Atlas of World
Architecture and 10x10_2, and held an exhibition in Berlin entitled “More
on Less” at the prestigious Aedes architecture gallery in May 2006. Recent
design awards include the 2006 International Architecture Award awarded by
The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design for 3 Houses at Victoria
Park Road, Singapore and the MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards
2006 Winner under the Tall Buildings Category, awarded by The Architectural
Review for The Met, Bangkok, Thailand.
