Zing is a Singaporean make-up artist who
moved to Hong Kong in 1992. Zing made his mark in Hong Kong and caused major
changes in the makeup, fashion and entertainment scene first with his "bare-faced"
looks and then with his creative approach to makeup. His portfolio includes
celebrities such as, Faye Wong, Sammi Cheng, Carina Lau and Shu Qi etc.
Between 1997 and 1999, Zing signed on with Max Factor as Image Creator where
he created seasonal looks and print ads that elevated the brand to a new level.
In 1998, Zing became the first Chinese makeup artist to be interviewed by
CNN. In the same year, he was also appointed as official makeup artist and
spokesperson for SKII and Max Factor's advertising campaigns and TV commercials
up to 2003. He has also done work in major advertising campaigns for L'Oreal,
VISA Credit Cards, Pepsi Cola, Levi's and Shanghai Tang.
Zing has also had 2 personal exhibitions called "ZingMakeUp" in 1997 and "zingbyzing"
in 2005. In conjunction with his personal exhibitions, he has also self-published
2 monographs, the first being "ZingMakeUp" and the second being "zingbyzing"
consisting of 34 images with editorial content by Zing, Titi Kwan and Faye
Wong under Zing Productions Ltd. This year, Zing raised makeup to an art form
by putting up a two-month long installation/art exhibition “Beauty Revealed”
for Lane Crawford. The exhibition included images, films, lightboxes and sculptures
made out of cosmetics, all produced by Zing.
Zing is currently preparing to host weekly makeup and beauty TV programs for
various TV stations in China in 2007.
