Singapore Design Tour

The theme for the 2006 London Design Festival show is “20/20 Movement Singapore Design Tour.” A collective showcase of a new generation of multi-disciplinary designers that embodies an unconventional design movement and attitude.

The concept behind “20/20 Movement - Singapore Design Tour” is based on the fact that the Singapore design scene is moving, in a movement where both DesignSingapore and local designers are pushing boundaries.

With the globalisation of design, our design talents have become increasingly mobile and move constantly in different, interesting speeds and directions, pushing boundaries, breaking new ground along the way. So for this show we will present a new generation of designers from all disciplines that are representative of an unconventional design movement. It will accurately showcase the different, interesting directions and speeds our local designers are moving in.

Being that this is the first time 20/20 is moving to London, the intention is to create a conceptual show that also moves the audience to a design destination that will change their impression on Singaporean design. To take them on a design journey inspired by the universally recognised codes, graphics and designs of transportation. This conceptual show will be housed in a specially designed “Creative Depot” with 20 parking lots to showcase conceptual work from the 20 designers that will position Singapore as an up and coming design capital.
