20/20 VISION
2004
National Library
Singapore
The first 20/20 show started in 2004 at the
IdN My Favorite Conference. The concept then was based on the perfect design
vision for Singapore (hence 20/20). The main component of that exhibition
was an industrial conveyor belt that transported 20cm x 20 cm boxes in a 20
metre x 20 metre space. The boxes were metaphors that showcased the 20 creators
as the building blocks of Singapore's design industry and community.
2,020 books were also printed to showcase and present the work of these 20
creators. All 2,020 boxes were regarded as collectibles by the audience and
were quickly snapped up before the end of the exhibition.
The designers featured in the first 20/20 exhibition were an interesting cross-disciplinary
mixed crop including: Work, WOHA, Tree Studio, Leslie Kee, Phunk Studio, Song
+ Kelly 21, SBTG, Fling, Kelley Cheng etc.
