Overseas Promotion Partnership Programme (OPPP)
 
If you are a designer or design company who has gained entry into a prestigious international design platform, you may be eligible for the Overseas Promotion Partnership Programme (OPPP). The programme aims to provide financial support to emerging Singapore-based designers and design companies to participate in international design platforms so that Singaporean designers and design companies can achieve greater international profiles and exposure and gain access to a larger international market. This will enhance Singapore's international standing in terms of design competitiveness and capabilities and position Singapore as a world design city.

Applicant Eligibility

To qualify for the DesignSingapore's Partnership Programme, the applying designer or company should be
1 A Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (for application made by designer) or employing at least one designer who is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (for application made by company)
2 Registered in Singapore (for company)
3 Designing from Singapore at the time of application
4 Invited to or admitted into a prestigious international design platform
   
Assessment Criteria

The design platform should be prestigious internationally based on the
1 Scale and importance of the platform and the entry criteria
2 Number of participants and internationally renowned participants
3 Number, types and importance of visitors
A few examples of prestigious international design platforms can be found at (Annex A).

The designer/design company should be an emerging designer/company with a good track record based on the
1 Designer/company’s background and activities
2 Designer/company’s design credentials (past awards, exhibitions, shows and publications)
3 Press coverage on the designer, his/her works or the company’s products (features in local and international online and print media e.g. newspapers and publications)
4 Favorable recommendations by two referees in a position to judge your professional or design capabilities, the quality of your works and your potential for international expansion
5 Financial position of the company
   
There should be significant benefits of participation to the designer/company in terms of
1 International exposure, expansion of market and sales and other business outcomes such as new leads, contracts or Intellectual property generated
2 Positioning of the designer/company as a global brand
3 Showcasing and marketing of new works/products
   
There should be alignment with national objectives such as
1 Improving the public awareness of good design and its benefits in Singapore (e.g. to industry partners, customers, media and general public)
2 Improving Singapore’s international standing in terms of design competitiveness and capability and providing value-add to Singapore’s international branding and DesignSingapore Council’s reputation and mission
   
Application Requirements

One hard copy and one soft copy of the application should be submitted to DesignSingapore Council using the information sheet and application form that can be requested from DesignSingapore Council. The application should be supported with copies of the applicants' identification, curriculum vitae, company's certified financial statement, letters of recommendation from two referees, proof of entrance to the design platform and any available product catalogues, write-ups and pictures (more details can be found in the information sheet and application form).

Grant Quantum & Eligible Items

The OPPP Grant will co-fund 50% of the total cost of participation in the design platform up to a maximum amount of S$25,000 for eligible items including rental, setup, construction, production, prototyping, marketing collaterals, promotional activities, freight and travel costs (more details can be found in the information sheet and application form).

Submission of Application

All applications should be submitted at least two months before the actual exhibition and/or show so as to allow one month for the processing of the application and to allow sufficient lead time for applicant(s) to acknowledge DesignSingapore Council as a supporting partner in relation to participation in the design platform in all marketing and promotional collaterals for the exhibition/show.

Approval of Grant

Applicants will be informed of whether their application for the OPPP Grant has been approved one month after they have submitted the complete set of application form and supporting documents.

Disbursement of Grant

The Grant will be disbursed upon the applicant(s)’ submission of an Event Report based on the template provided by DesignSingapore Council. All requests for disbursements must be supported by invoices, receipts and/or other valid documents.

Terms & Conditions of Grant

The OPPP Grant carries with it the following obligations.
1 The recipient should participate fully in the design platform until its completion.
2 The recipient should acknowledge DesignSingapore Council as a supporting partner in relation to participation in the design platform in all marketing and promotional collaterals for the exhibition/show.
3 The recipient should obtain the written approval of DesignSingapore Council before using the DesignSingapore Council logo and typeface.
4 The recipient should provide DesignSingapore Council with images from the exhibition/show and grant DesignSingapore Council the rights to use those images in DesignSingapore Council’s collaterals.
5 The recipient should declare to DesignSingapore Council any other sources of public funding and private sponsorship for the exhibition/showing. The OPPP Grant amount may be reduced based on the amount of any other public funding provided for items also covered under the OPPP Grant.
6 The recipient should submit a softcopy report of the Event no later than 3 months after its completion. He/she should also update the Event Report and submit the updated Report to DesignSingapore Council 1 year after the completion of the Event. The report consists of a summary and evaluation of the Event, the business outcomes of participation such as new leads/contacts, new sales/contracts secured, intellectual property generated, media coverage on the participation and the designer/company’s financial position.
7 The recipient must participate in a mentorship programme supported by DesignSingapore Council, at a later time to be determined by DesignSingapore Council and the recipient, to groom young local designers.
