Singapore Pavilion at Venice Biennale
ST Life!, TODAY and CNA Online. 03 September 2008
ST Life! (p C6), TODAY (p 48) and CNA Online profiled the Singapore pavilion, themed Singapore Supergarden, to be presented by DSg at the upcoming 11th Venice Biennale. Life! described Singapore’s showcase as a bumper crop of ideas while TODAY highlighted it as ‘a radical approach’, which was how D/DSg described it. Reports noted this would be Singapore's third consecutive participation in the Biennale. Both gave a description of the Pavilion design and approach, listed the participating artists and designers and highlighted some of the exhibits. D/DSg said that they had adopted a "radical approach", taken on a "much younger team" and were showing "emerging ideas". CNA Online said that pre-recorded audio conversations would be one of the 22 items presented to provide an insight into how architects related to other creative fields such as photography and web designing. TODAY also mentioned that Robert Tomlin has taken over as Chairman of DSg from Edmund Cheng and that the latter was recently appointed for a second 3-year term as NAC chairman, and would continue to head DSg's International Advisory Panel.
