Design Thinking -- a pilot program for schools
• FAQ
What are we supposed to do?
MWOS is not a problem-solving exercise which converges to "correct" answers. Explore with a 'new' eye; deliberately see differently from what you are used to; discover new insights.
Do we need to know photography? It helps to know the basics of photography. Going through the manual is not that difficult, surely. Learning with firends and peers is more fun though. Maintain a spirit of learning.
Do designers and mentors and teachers need to meet with their Groups every time?It is for the Groups to work out their meeting schedules. Each Group is to elect a Group Facilitator who acts the coordinator and point of contact. The Facilitator need not be the same person for every Stage. Keep the Secretariat informed.
Do we need to know computing, especially digital video editing? All necessary training will be provided. The best learning, however, comes from peer learning.
Do designers need to use Maya (as suggested by the program)?Maya is put up as an opportunity for designers to learn a new digital environment. It is part of the exploration space that the project offers.
Who owns the IP for designs arising out of the project? The designers, or their practices or organisations. Appropriate acknowledgement of the MWOS project is expected. The Secretariat reserves the right to publish the works; designers would be informed.
