President's Design Award

Nomination Procedure

Award Categories

There are two categories for the President’s Design Award:

Singapore Designers of the Year

awarded to individual(s) or design team(s) to recognise their design creativity and achievement in
any discipline(s), demonstrated by a sustained body or portfolio of works.

Singapore Designs of the Year

awarded to project(s) or product(s) in any discipline(s), to recognise their national significance and
creative value to Singapore.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for the two Award categories are as follows:

Singapore Designers of the Year
All design disciplines All nominees must be Singapore citizens or permanent
residents of Singapore1, and includes those who have
produced their designs overseas and/or who live overseas.
Singapore Designs of the Year
Architecture and Urban Design (A&UD)

Built-in-Singapore projects
Built projects which involve Singapore citizens or
permanent residents of Singapore2. A&UD projects
that involve foreign collaborators3 are also eligible
for nomination.

Overseas projects
Built projects which involve Singapore citizens or
permanent residents of Singapore4. A&UD projects
that involve foreign collaborators3 are also eligible
for nomination.

All other design disciplines

Designs that are designed in Singapore
Regardless of place of execution and nationality of
the lead designer for the design.

Designs that are designed overseas
Regardless of place of execution, but lead designers
must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents of
Singapore.

1 For submissions to the Architecture & Urban Design category, Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore and/or overseas.   3 For the Architecture & Urban Design category, Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore can collaborate with foreigners and submit jointly as a design team.
2 For Architecture & Urban Design projects built in Singapore, the Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore.   4 For overseas Architecture & Urban Design projects, the Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore and/or overseas.
