There are two categories for the President’s Design Award:

awarded to individual(s) or design team(s) to recognise their design creativity and achievement in
any discipline(s), demonstrated by a sustained body or portfolio of works.

awarded to project(s) or product(s) in any discipline(s), to recognise their national significance and
creative value to Singapore.

Eligibility criteria for the two Award categories are as follows:
| All design disciplines | All nominees must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore1, and includes those who have produced their designs overseas and/or who live overseas. |

| Architecture and Urban Design (A&UD) | Built-in-Singapore projects Overseas projects |

| All other design disciplines | Designs that are designed in Singapore Designs that are designed overseas |

| 1 For submissions to the Architecture & Urban Design category, Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore and/or overseas. | 3 For the Architecture & Urban Design category, Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore can collaborate with foreigners and submit jointly as a design team. |

| 2 For Architecture & Urban Design projects built in Singapore, the Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore. | 4 For overseas Architecture & Urban Design projects, the Singapore citizens or permanent residents of Singapore must be architects who are licensed to practise in Singapore and/or overseas. | |
