Stage B Submissions (Deadline: 6pm (SGT), 27 June 2008, Friday)

Designer of the Year

  1. Overview
  2. The following checklist summarises the items that designers nominated for the Designer of the Year category will be requested to submit for Stage B of the nominations process:
    1. An A4-sized report which must include Items 1 to 6 (please see below) for all design disciplines; and
    2. A CD / DVD of the A4-sized report. Please include all text and images (at least 300 dpi high-resolution tiff/jpeg format) that are used in the report.

  3. A4-Sized Report
    1. This report is required for ALL design disciplines, and must be submitted in both hard and soft copy.
    2. The report should be printed on A4-sized paper, clearly divided into the 6 sections below, and submitted in ring folders as loose sheets. For all images that are submitted, please clearly demarcate different sections for conceptual images / sketches, and images of actual designs, where relevant.
    3. A CD / DVD of the report must be submitted together with the hard copy of the report. The CD / DVD should include all text and images (at least 300 dpi high-resolution tiff/jpeg format) that are used in the report
    4. The report must comprise the following sections:
      1. CV of nominated Designer
      1. Highest design training / design / professional qualifications received (indicate professional licence / registration number, institution and year);
      2. Membership in design organisations (indicate position held and year);
      3. Significant design activities such as exhibitions, workshops, seminars, productions, competitions, publications, etc. (indicate year, place and country);
      4. Awards, prizes or commendations won (indicate nature of award, year and name of conferring organisation(s)); and
      5. Any other relevant achievements.
      2. Portfolio Please include recent works (i.e. works created within the past 1 year) in addition to older works. Please indicate year of completion for all works.
      3. Press reviews, articles, letters of support or any other documents / publications Please include relevant publications, letters or supporting documents which would assist in the assessment.
      4. Singaporean citizenship or permanent residency; Please include a photocopy of the nominated Designer’s NRIC.
      5. 2 referees familiar with the work of nominated Designer Nominated Designers must submit particulars of 2 referees who are familiar with their work.  Referees should declare their relationship to the nominee, if any (e.g. relatives, employees or colleagues of the nominee). They should preferably be designers and must be willing to be contacted if necessary. The nominator in Stage A can also be a referee.
      6. Citation from each referee Each of the 2 referees is also expected to submit a 1-page nomination citation (Arial, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing).
    5. The administrators may also request additional items where necessary.
    6. Nominated Designers will be responsible for the safe delivery of submission materials.
    7. The administrators will retain all submitted digital media, and reserve the right to use the submitted images for all President’s Design Award related publicity collaterals and activities (e.g. exhibitions, talks, publications, etc). Designers will be duly acknowledged, where their material is used.

  4. Submissions
    1. Closing date for Stage B submissions is 6pm (SGT), 27 June 2008, Friday.
    2. Submissions postmarked or received by hand later than this date will not be considered.
