World Interiors Day (WID) Celebrations
May 29, 2012
The interior architects and designers around the world celebrated the World Interiors Day (WID) on 26 May 2012.
This year’s WID theme - “Finding the New in the Old”, encouraged the interior design community to look at historical journey of design to find learning and inspiration while embracing new developments, innovation and creativity for the building of an ever better future.
The WID is an annual worldwide event initiated by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) to celebrate interior architecture and design around the world by bringing this profession to the global platform as well as enhancing knowledge and understanding. This initiative also encourages the cooperation between individuals, focusing on the wide ranging work of interior architects and designers and their contributions to society.
As part of the celebrations, IFI encouraged its members and design professionals to organise events simultaneously around the globe to educate the public on design practices through activities such as lectures, exhibitions and art activities. IFI also hoped to raise public awareness of the social and sustainable practices of the interior architecture and design profession through this worldwide effort.
