Burning questions with design leaders

Aug 20, 2019

What keeps these four design leaders up at night? Ben Sheppard, Partner at McKinsey and Company, Jamie Myrold, VP of Adobe Design, Kat Holmes, Director of User Experience at Google, and Sam Yen, Head of Commercial Real Estate Digital at JP Morgan Chase, answer some burning questions about design vs design thinking, common misconceptions about design and more in this special interview with the DesignSingapore Council.

Sheppard explains that everything that makes a better solution for the user is considered design, and Holmes says that a good design leader must be able to speak multiple languages – find out which, in the video at the 01:29 mark. Also, do these design leaders “dress like a designer” at work to differentiate themselves?

The four design leaders spoke with the DesignSingapore Council when they attended the Brainstorm Design 2019, which was part of the Singapore Design Week. Myrold also shared how designers can be relevant for the future, and that it's ok to not be perfect. Holmes spoke about how inclusion can be a form of inspiration for designers, and shared 10 things you didn’t know about her.
