Product designers who need help to turn their concept into 3D-reality can now access Seek2design, a new digital “match-making” platform that facilitates the design development process.
The platform supports designers by connecting them to necessary services such as design consultation, material supply, prototyping or advice on production. Through Seek2design, users are now able to compare and make informed decisions on choosing the ideal supplier for their specific needs.
Seek2design was created by a team of educators and students from etc.lab, an interdisciplinary centre at the School of Design & Environment, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Its mission is to initiate collaborative design and research projects that empower communities in making social impact and change. With this platform, etc.lab hopes to offer aspiring designers effortless connection with the suppliers and help them advance in their maker’s aspiration.
“The Seek2design platform is to help product designers, product design students and individuals looking to design and create products. Its objective is to address the paucity of consolidated information on design consultancy companies, material suppliers, prototyping services and manufacturers”, said Mr Tan Wan Fong, Course Chair for Product Design & Innovation at Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Design and Environment.
