In March this year, the Singapore Design Week (SDW) was brought to life when 104 partners came together to organise 115 programmes! It took SDW to many parts of Singapore – demonstrating not only how design is everywhere in this UNESCO Creative City of Design, but also how it can impact our everyday lives. SDW 2018 attracted over 300,000 participants – our highest to date!

To spur collaborations and build industry capabilities, we had invited ideas from the ground through our Call for Proposals for district activations, design trails and the Singapore – City of Design Guide. Design creatives HJGHER, LOPELAB, Shophouse & Co and Underscore gamely took up the challenge, and curated their own programmes with new business models. The district activations, District Design Dialogue in Holland Village and Singapore Urban Design Festival in Tanjong Pagar, as well as the design trails, The City Ramble, were well received and attracted over 30,000 participants in total.

Heartened by the positive response to our Call for Proposals, we are once again inviting interested partners to claim their stake in SDW 2019 through:

  1. District Activations (DA)

  2. Design Trails (DT)

  3. Singapore – City of Design Publication (CODP)

We will provide seed funding and marketing support, while successful applicants will own, fund and lead the programmes.

For the next edition, interested applicants can submit proposals based on any one of the following options:

  1. One programme (i.e DA, DT or CODP); or

  2. Two out of three programmes (i.e DA and DT, DA and CODP, or DT and CODP); or

  3. All three programmes (i.e DA, DT and CODP)

If you missed your chance to participate in the calls last year, don’t hesitate any longer. This is your opportunity to do so now! If you have an interesting concept for our SDW 2019 district activations, trails and/or publication, we want you to submit your proposals to us!

ABOUT SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK

Into its 6th edition, the Singapore Design Week (SDW) 2019 will run from 4 to 17 March 2019. The annual SDW brings together a collection of local and international design activities in Singapore. Organised by the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), the SDW is open to the design community, businesses, design students, public sector officers and the general public.

As one of Asia’s premier design festivals, SDW champions design thought leadership by bringing together the design, business and public policy worlds to bring about innovation and solutions to build businesses, engage communities and enrich people’s lives. It is a hub where the best design talents and businesses from Singapore and Asia converge to be showcased to the world; and a platform where Singaporeans and visitors can experience the value of design through delightful activities.

Through this platform, Dsg hopes to enhance the synergy among our design partners, and in turn boost Singapore’s profile and attractiveness as a global city for design. More information can be found at: www.designsingapore.org/SDW.
