The BOD programme aims to grow the export value of Singapore designs by building mindshare in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets in Asia.
This is a targeted programme for established design studios that have a compelling brand philosophy and aspire towards good design that impacts positively on the environment, culture, society and/or economy; the studios should also have strong business fundamentals and are able to scale up to meet international demand.
The first run of the BOD programme aims to generate new business opportunities for up to 6 established Singapore-based furniture and lifestyle product design studios that have the potential to internationalise.
The BOD will address specific aspects of the design studio’s development (including mentorship, access to networks and brand storytelling) and support efforts to build capabilities that will boost competitiveness and global demand.
The BOD programme entails:
1. Connecting designers to global marketplace through in-market consultants who will guide designers in their pitch to secure business opportunities, connect them to business circles, and provide mentorship.
2. Building brand assets and maximising media coverage for individual designers in global markets through sharpening of brand stories and sustained access to in-market Public Relations Agents.
3. Promoting a set of distinct Singapore design brand values through themed collective showcases involving supported designers and their partner manufacturers, at appropriate international platforms.
