The Singapore Design Golden Jubilee Award, an extraordinary one-off SG50 initiative, is organised by the DesignSingapore Council. The Award was presented to 70 of Singapore’s earliest designers and design educators by the Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, at a ceremony on 20 Oct at the National Design Centre.
The Award acknowledges the design pioneers, their achievements and contributions to excellence and innovation, and for having shaped the progress and development of the Singapore design sector in the past 50 years.
The recipients, born on or before 31 December 1949, were professionals in various fields of design such as architecture, urban planning, urban design, landscape design, interior design, product and industrial design, fashion design, advertising, visual communications, and design education. They were nominated by representatives from design associations and institutions.
